I received a terrible blurry, black and white, "on demand" print of the government color PDF. It is NOT the version that is shown in the pictures; It is a low quality knock off done by an "on demand" printer from the LA area.Kinkos would do better.Amazon should be ashamed to sell this.
Not the original copy. Just a copy and not very good one at that. don't buy save your money. thought I bought the better copy of the ones show for sale but I 2 inches of worthless unreadable paper.
If your looking for the large full size pilots handbook and airplane handbook this is not it. The large books have full color drawings and large print. This book is small and fully black and white including the drawings. And the type is very small. It’s like reading the FAR’S
There are two versions of the book format of the Pilot's Handbook listed - buy the other version ISBN 9781619544734Issues:1. All of the pictures are black and white. This doesn't take away from the content, but the full color pictures in the other version are far nicer and, in some cases, easier to understand.2. Starting with chapter 6 the odd pages and even pages are one the wrong sides. Page numbers are at the inside edge by the spine instead of outside. Again, doesn't take away from the content but does make it hard to find things.
The text is retarded small. All the pictures are not only black and white, but smeared and impossible to read any details on them. Maps, weather charts, on and on are all impossible to read! I’m returning this. Would have been better just looking at the free pdf version on the computer.
I bought this book printed by Skyhorse Publishing and it is FULL of printing errors. Someone really messed up, and quality control missed it completely. I am going to re-purchase the book from the government printing office. So much for the "free market"...HA!
I concur with others that this version is difficult to read, in black and white, and that the illustrations are low resolution and difficult to interpret. This is probably just a straight print of the low-res PDF from the FAA's website. Excellent! This is the definitive text for your Airman Knowledge Test and your practical exam (checkride)...although I believe there's a new edition out now. Very well-written, although needlessly technical in a few places. If you're studying for your Private Pilot License, you need to have this book (or a later edition, if available).
