A wonderful book. Easy to read and understand. Often we deluged with challenging Christian books that tax our intellect. Christianity really isn't that complicated. Ms. Yates makes the Christian life simple and practical. She shows us how to be more committed to Jesus and consequently have a more meaningful life. Although a meaningful life requires commitment, it can really be as easy as seeking him first. The author explains how she developed a routine to spend more time with Jesus. This routine can be yours with a few simple, practical steps.I found this book refreshing from other books in this genre. If you want to grow in your Christian life, but are struggling to find the time to do so, read this concise book.

This is a very solid book full of practical wisdom for growing in our lives in Jesus. It is easy to read with Jennifer using interesting and personal illustrations that draw us into the book while also empowering us in the areas she is teaching. "Practical spirituality" is a phrase I heard many years ago. This is such a work. We are given practical, helpful ways to actually "do" the subject matter. Not only are we encouraged to personally grow spiritually, we also experience the holy sparks and teaching grace to change the world around us (from the inside out). This is huge for us as we seek to live out our Faith and I am sure pleasing to our Lord as well.

Seek Him First is a great reminder to women seeking to follow God of the importance of beginning each day seeking Him. I appreciated the author listing several different types of Bible study methods, so the reader is able to select what style best fits their life and time constraints. I also appreciated her laying out that may change during different seasons of life. I was challenged personally to deepen my time in the Bible and journaling. I loved the description of our marching orders from Jesus: we are to be “disciples making disciple-making disciples.†Our first calling is always to know God and follow Him, but in that we should be helping others to grow in the same manner.
I have loved reading this book. It has really opened my eyes on things that i need to work on in my spiritual walk with the lord. My pastor hits on alot of this information in his sermons but until you read it and realize that when are trying to do the right thing it feels like everything is going wrong. I have had to realize that the devil is trying to step in change us back to the way he wants us to be. We just have to be strong enough in the lord to tell him that our heat belongs to Jesus Christ. Thank you so much Jennifer for writing such a eye opening book. I will be telling others about your book so that it may open others eyes to the lord. Love you girl and keep working for the Lord.
Seek Him First by Jennifer Hayes Yates is practical AND inspiring. It is a how-to manual on getting right with God. It reminded me of some things I already knew (God must come first), and taught me new ways to approach Him. The book uses specific Bible verses to tie together her step-by-step approach to living. She has reignited my desire to start my day with His Word. I will be using this book to reconnect with God by putting Him first.
