I purchased this book for my son that will receive 1st communion next year. Easy to understand book that teaches the steps and sayings of the Catholic Mass from the beginning to the end. He enjoys following along during mass.
There are many positives to say about this book. I read previous comments and agree with the content matter. My family and I were really turned off by the graphics. The pages and images are computer generated. It was very hard to connect to. My nephew barely even looked at the book.
Got it for my nephew for his 1st communion. He might not read it, but if his parents want to explain to him the parts of the eternally long, boring, seemingly pointless formality of a Catholic mass, they can now do that!I might have more appreciation for the mass had my parents given more explanation and reason such as that outlined in this book. I recommend this if you are going to be a godparent. I am not this nephew's god parent... surprised? :-)
So jammed packed with easy to understand info for the kiddies! The illustrations only encourage them to want more. Absolutely fantastic, we cannot wait to bring it to mass with us. Thank you!
Excellent resource for young Catholics, and informative for older Catholics too. I especially liked the use the author made of bold type to pick out at a glance the core content of each page.
This book does not have the responses to help my child participate and that was what I had been hoping for. However, you can use this book to teach the parts of the Mass.
We received these books as a gift, and I am quite pleased with them. They follows the order of the Mass with nice explanations for why we do what we do such as why we bless ourselves and why we genuflect. It has the words to some of the prayers or sometimes the beginning of the prayer to get the child started. I love that the last page of the book for the children is an example of the family living out being sent out into the world to be Christ for others. I also like that it includes detailed information on the very last page for parents and catechists about mortal sin, the need to be in a state of grace to receive the Eucharist, and the Eucharist as a sacrifice with references to specific sections of the catechism. These books are a very nice resource for anyone who wants to help make the Holy Mass meaningful for the whole family!!
This is a great book! Easy to read, inviting pictures. The kids loved it!
